Recreation and Tourism in Denton County

Denton County residents enjoy three lakes, beautiful city parks and trails, museums, and other attractions.  The county’s proximity to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex offers residents access to several nationally recognized entertainment attractions, including nine other North Texas water bodies, Six Flags Over Texas, Six Flags Hurricane Harbor, the West End Marketplace, the Texas Rangers, the Dallas Cowboys, the Dallas Mavericks, the Dallas Stars, the Fort Worth Zoo and the Fort Worth Stockyards.

  • Trinity Trails System (An additional eight miles have been completed through Denton from south of the new hospital on I-35 to about Hickory Street. There are various access points. The trail can be used for walking, biking and horse riding. A Grand Opening ceremony for the trail will be planned Fall 2001).
